Westside skates are an iconic animal on the West Side of Chicago.
But it is not safe to travel there any longer.
On Sunday, officials with the Chicago Department of Transportation announced that four of the animals had died while traveling in the city’s west side.
The animals were on a two-hour trip between Lake Shore Drive and Northbrook Drive.
“We are saddened to report that the skates of a skater in the 7800 block of Northbrook were euthanized by animal control,” officials wrote in a statement on Sunday.
The animals, which were not named, had been euthanizing in their own home and would be euthanased in a local animal shelter.
The skaters had been in Chicago since late January.
